Community Networking

Community Networking provides individualized activities to support a meaningful day in integrated community settings and consists of:

  • Participation in adult education (College, Vocational Studies, and other educational opportunities)
  • Development of community-based time management skills
  • Community-based classes for the development of hobbies or leisure/cultural interests
  • Volunteer work
  • Participation in formal/informal associations and/or community groups
  • Training and education in self-determination and self-advocacy
  • Using public transportation

Community Networking integrated, community-based employment-focused skill development consists of: Career exploration, discovery and career planning, participation in workshops and classes on topics related to integrated employment and skill and education-focused activities and volunteering opportunities (career focus).

Community Living and Supports

CLS offers assistance and supervision for a person to increase and maintain life skills, including:

  • Interpersonal, independent living
  • Community living
  • Self-care
  • Self-determination

The intended outcome is to empower the person to live in their primary residence by maximizing self-sufficiency and enhancing their opportunity to be full members of their community.

This personalized support takes into account the needs and desires of the person and their family. Supports may be around personal hygiene, healthy food choices, actively participating in community life and making friends. People may be assisted with monitoring a health, nutritional or physical condition.

Upon request, family members living with the person supported may request technical assistance to maintaining skills learned.
